Binghamton University’s Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science is asking Greater Binghamton businesses and organizations to participate in a free evaluation that will provide a snapshot of their current manufacturing operations.

The evaluation, conducted through a survey titled “Manufacturing Microscope,” will be administered by an industrial engineer from Watson’s Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) Department.

Developed by IBM Consulting and the London Business School, the survey focuses on manufacturing operations and small high-tech companies. The survey covers topics such as quality, plant and equipment, organization and culture, and business measurement.

The entire benchmarking process, including generation of a summary report, can be completed in a three-hour visit. Data collected is also compared with other companies of a similar size and industry.
