Binghamton University writers offer readings to benefit homeless

Writers from the Binghamton University community will offer an evening of poetry and fiction readings, and live music to benefit the homeless at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 21, in Casadesus Recital Hall in the Fine Arts building on the University campus. A free will offering will be taken.

The event, which is also known as the Writer’s Harvest Reading, is part of a national series sponsored by the Share Our Strength Foundation. Readings by Maria Mazziotti Gillian and Jaimee Wriston Colbert of the Creative Writing Program, and Martin Bidney, professor of English, will be among those participating. Special guest Nancy Mercado, an editor for Longshot and a poet, will also be featured.

Students and audience members will be invited to present a poem or work of art. Light refreshments will be served.
