The Binghamton University Crew Club will host the second annual John McKenna Memorial 5K run on Saturday, March 28, at Recreation Park in Binghamton. McKenna, a Binghamton graduate and member of the Crew Club from 1994-1998, was killed in combat during his third tour with the U.S. Marines in Iraq.

All proceeds will benefit the John McKenna Memorial Fund, which supports the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and the NYS Trooper Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the event will also assist the Crew Club in paying for a boat purchased in John Mckenna’s name, which will be christened at the race this year.

The deadline to pre-register is March 21. The cost is $10 for Binghamton University students and $12 for community members and includes a t-shirt. Registration forms can be found online at http://5k.binghamtoncrew.org. Race day registration costs $15 and begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at race time. A children's fun run is scheduled for 9 a.m. and the 5K at 9:30 a.m. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
