Binghamton University to hold commencement ceremonies May 16-17
BINGHAMTON, NY -- Binghamton University will award two honorary doctorates and hear from U.S. Rep. Maurice D. Hinchey (D-N.Y.) at Commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 16-17, in the Events Center. Lawrence J. Schorr ’75, ’77, a respected attorney, business leader and philanthropist, will receive an honorary Doctor of Law degree and Mario J. Paniccia ’88, an Intel fellow and director of the Photonics Technology Lab, Corporate Technology Group for Intel Corp. will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree. Hinchey will be the guest speaker at the noon ceremony for the professional schools.
Overall, Binghamton University will confer approximately 2,900 degrees for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates during Commencement ceremonies. Approximately 600 additional degrees were conferred at Fall 2008 Commencement.
