The primary mission of Binghamton University's media relations staff is to ensure that the media has accurate and timely information about the University, its faculty, staff and students.
Gail Glover, senior director of media and public relations, and Ryan Yarosh, assistant director of media relations, field thousands of media-related calls and electronic queries each year, providing the media assistance on stories, help in arranging interviews and connections to topical experts. They advise faculty and staff in how to respond appropriately and effectively to media inquiries and assist in handling media interviews.
The media relations staff also issues hundreds of news releases and news tips each year, covering subjects including scientific discoveries, national honors and major events. In addition, they contact reporters, writers and editors around the country to interest them in stories about the campus.
Binghamton University's media relations staff will also coordinate news conferences when appropriate, work with the campus on major announcements and provide media training to faculty and staff.
