What is Greek Life all about?

There are four values that lie at the heart of Greek Life at Binghamton University:

Scholarship:

Sororities and fraternities at Binghamton understand that learning is the primary focus of the college experience. Chapters pride themselves on high academic achievement and hold their members to a standard of excellence. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher to join a sorority or fraternity. Chapters use both formal and informal strategies to encourage the academic success of their members.

Service:

A central part of all fraternities and sororities is bettering their communities through service. Greek chapters at Binghamton serve the local community and beyond through countless initiatives. Chapters annually raise tens of thousands of dollars for various causes and perform over ten thousand hours of community service.

Friendship:

As a member of the Greek community you will have the opportunity to:

Forge lifelong friendships – Sisterhood and brotherhood are essential parts of sororities and fraternities. The camaraderie experienced in these groups is like no other.

Develop professional and personal networks – Members of the Greek community benefit in their careers and lives by connecting with successful alumni all over the world. Did you know that most of the top CEOs and influential leaders in the US are Greek?

Network with peers from across the country – Members of fraternities and sororities attend national conferences where they meet brothers and sisters from coast to coast, connect with organizational leaders, and share programs and ideas with other chapters.

.

Leadership:

One of the greatest benefits of joining a Greek organization is gaining access to a huge variety of leadership positions. Members have the opportunity to hold positions in their chapter, governing council, or national board. Students gain valuable skills through these experiences that they use the rest of their lives.
