Good Neighbor Program
At Off Campus College, we attempt to improve the relationship between
students and their neighbors through the Good Neighbor Program (GNP). Through
the GNP, students are encouraged to be good neighbors by following these
established guidelines:
- Respect your neighbors and their right to enjoy a quiet, clean and peaceful
neighborhood.
- Don't have large parties/loud music, etc. while your neighbors are trying to sleep.
- Keep your apartment/home and your yard clean and free of debris.
- If you have a party, make sure that you clean up the property afterward.
- Be friendly and considerate of your neighbors.
- Offer to help shovel snow, rake leaves for elderly neighbors.
- Be aware of parking needs of elderly neighbors.
- Maintain the correct procedure for trash/recyclable collection.
Always remember that you are responsible for the action(s) of your
guests - if they cause problems for the neighborhood, the problem will
ultimately be yours.
Seven Ways to Avoid Having the Police Crash Your Party
Off Campus Party Planning Suggestions:
- Go door-to-door and talk with your neighbors before the party.
- Use invitations; open parties get out of control!
- Keep your guests inside (especially after 11:00 p.m.).
- Remind your guests to be quiet when leaving and to leave containers at
the door.
- Be sure guests have rides home (i.e. sober driver, bus, taxi -- ask taxis
not to honk!).
- Keep music low and doors and windows closed.
- If you choose to serve alcoholic beverages, limit the amount, and provide
munchies and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Keep your neighbors happy! They invite the police to your party!
Reminder: It is illegal to possess, consume and/or serve
alcoholic beverages if you are under 21 years of age. It is also illegal to
serve alcoholic beverages to anyone under 21 years of age.
