You are always welcome to drop by our office in the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center (RC) G-1: right across the street from Lecture Hall 1. We’re here to answer questions, get you started on the study-abroad process or help you determine your next step. We also have a resource area filled with study-abroad and exchange program brochures and information.
Just getting started and have questions about how to choose a program? Need to know how credits will work? Does financial aid work for your program? How does one submit an application? Review the Planning for Study Abroad Powerpoint. This covers the topics commonly reviewed during the information sessions offered at the beginning of each semester, and is a handy resource for students and parents throughout the study abroad process.
Mondays 1:00-2:00
Tuesdays 3:00-4:00
Wednesdays 3:00-4:00
Thursdays 1:00-2:00
Fridays 1:00-2:00
These sessions are a great way to find out more about particular study abroad regions, programs or types. Please note that times and dates may change. Stop by the Office of International Programs in Rockefeller G-1 or contact us at oip@binghamton.edu for room information and the most up-to-date schedule! Come back and check our schedule for topical information sessions towards the end of January 2011. This is a list of the topical information sessions that we may offer:
Celebrating International Education Week 2010, the Office of International Programs re-launches the Peer Advising Program. We project to offer 120-150 hours of peer advising to our student body every semester. The Peer Advisors (PAs) Pool is composed of students returning from their academic and internship experiences abroad. They are trained to provide advice to those students getting started with their study abroad plans or facing the challenges of pre-departure before leaving Binghamton. Students interested in peer advising can contact OIP at 607-777-2336 or email us at sapeerad@binghamton.edu. You can read more about Peer Advising following this link.
We offer general pre-departure orientations toward the end of each semester for students participating in SUNY or non-SUNY programs. These sessions are required for Global Studies minors, unless they have attended a program-specific orientation at Binghamton or elsewhere. If you have notified our office of your plans to study abroad, we will email you the schedule for these orientations--they are typically held during the last couple weeks of the semester.
