Semester-in-London: Costs

Below are the estimated costs for the Spring 2010 program. It is possible that any or all of the component prices of the fee could increase a little. The Semester-in-London Program's direct charges include the following:

$2485 In-state tuition or $6435 Out-of-state tuition*
$7400 Program fee: includes housing in central London, participation in organized group trips, attendance at theatre performances, and all administrative costs
$700 Round-trip airfare, New York to London-this is a current estimate and is subject to fluctuations in airline pricing

*Tuition charges are based on the current charges, which can be changed by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

These direct costs include the expenses for all group trips and theatre visits, but not for food, personal expenses, personal travel, entertainment, and special purchases. Also, the flight cost is an estimate, which may change as airlines respond to rising fuel costs. We estimate that the minimum cost of food and other necessary personal expenses will be around $4000.

The amount students should budget for personal expenses and travel is a personal decision and varies significantly from student to student. Discretionary travel on the Continent is expensive and prices in London are high, with many opportunities to spend more than the amount estimated above.

For more detailed cost information, please refer to the detailed cost sheet--Spring 2010 Estimate of Complete Costs

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Students who receive financial aid have usually found that their aid packages can be adjusted to help meet the increased cost of study abroad. Financial Aid can be used to cover or support all program costs except the airfare. The Binghamton Office of Financial Aid Services can only consider the applications of students matriculated at Binghamton University for degree study. Other SUNY and non-SUNY students should contact the Financial Aid office at the home university for information about eligibility for all aid programs.

There is limited scholarship assistance for students interested in the London Program. Of primary interest is the Benjamin A. Gilman national scholarship. For more information please see our Scholarships web page.
