Things to do before orientation

Pay your deposit to Student Accounts.

Activate your BU email account and check your email regularly.

Fill out your University Housing request form on-line. (Note: The link will be emailed to your BU email account)

Register for Orientation. (Note: You will receive registration information via the mail)

Review Financial Aid policies and other important student-status information. (Ex. Health insurance requirements, need for full-time vs. part-time status)

Submit your health form & immunity requirements to the Decker Student Health Services Center as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding these forms, please contact the Decker Student Health Services Center by email or phone: (607) 777-2221. (Note: Submission of this material is in accordance with NYS Public Health Laws, and you may not register for classes until this is received)

Read the Academic Honesty Policy as well as the Student Code of Conduct.

Acknowledge your awareness of the Student Code of Conduct in order to be able to register for classes. To do this, log into BU BRAIN and click on the "Update Adresses, Phones and View E-mail Addresses" section. The prompt to acknowledge your awareness of the Code of Conduct should be presented automatically. Once it appears, please review the information as required and select CONTINUE. (For more information, visit the BU Brain Help webpage.)

Develop a list of courses of interest by visiting the various academic links available on the Orientation Website. Specific links to consider are your school’s Advising Office and the Schedule of Classes.

Request your AP scores & transcripts from all institutions, including college credit gained while in high school, to be sent to the Admission’s Office. Also have copies to bring to Orientation.

Check for any administrative holds on your record that may affect registering at Orientation. (Ex. Parking tickets, library fines, etc.) (Note that these debts may be incurred from family members). To do this, log into BU BRAIN and click on "review holds" in the BU REGISTRATION TOOLS channel.

Attend Orientation. As the orientation program is a great opportunity to learn more about the campus and student life, get advice for planning your college career, and make some new friends. You'll also get your student ID card, and have the first chance to register for the coming semester's courses.
