Professor of Philosophy and Women's Studies and Philosophy. She received her Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1981. She has been at Binghamton University (SUNY) since 1991. She is a recipient of the Chancellor Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her areas of research and teaching include theories of violence, political and social theory, and feminist social-political philosophy. Her publications include The Subject of Violence: Arendtean Exercises in Understanding (Rowman and Littlefield, 2002), Jewish Locations: Traversing Racialized Landscapes (coedited with Lisa Tessman, Rowman and Littlefield, 2001), Daring to Be Good: Essays in Feminist Ethico-Politics (coedited with Ann Ferguson, Routledge, 1998) and numerous anthologized and journal articles.
