Physical Facilities Service Changes
Physical Facilities will be closing 16 restrooms in various buildings across campus by July 1. PF will also be reducing the frequency of cleaning some other restrooms in state buildings. Budget reductions continue to affect the way we provide services. Since 2008, Physical Facilities has absorbed $3 million in cuts. The 16 restrooms represent 4.4% of the total of 356 restrooms in state buildings.
In determining what closures would have least impact, the department looked at how frequently the restrooms were used along with whether there are nearby restroom facilities.
When the restrooms are closed, the signs will be removed from the doors and they will be locked. We will post signs to other nearby restrooms.
Below is the list of restrooms that will be closed and floor plans showing where they are located (outlined in red) as well as where there are nearby restrooms (women's shown in pink and men's shown in blue).

Reducing services is our last resort in terms of managing the cuts Physical Facilities has faced. In recent years, with tight budgets, the department has continued to look for efficiencies in the way we provide services. Other measures we have taken include:
- Closely examining the frequency of custodial tasks and reducing frequencies. Example, nightly trash pickup in offices now done weekly.
- Purchased equipment to improve efficiency of certain tasks (back pack vacuums, more efficient floor machines)
- Holding vacancies
- Creating floater positions so staff can become familiar with a number of areas and be plugged in where needed
The department will continue to keep safety, quality of work life and first impressions at the forefront of any future budget reduction considerations. As many know, the academic mission is the first priority of the University and Physical Facilities asks for your continued support and patience as we do our part to assist the campus in coping with tight budgets.
