Outreach

GENERAL INFORMATION

One of the many goals of the Physics Department is to make science fun and accessible to all. To further this end, the department sponsors a program that supports outreach activities. Our Physics Outreach Program (POP) volunteers visit local organizations, classrooms and schools and perform demonstrations. Recent activities have included:

• several visits to a local elementary school's 'after-school program';
• visits to campus from the Kopernik Observatory's Space Science Education participants; and
• visits to campus by a group of middle-school students to see fun demonstrations on National Lab Day in May 2010.
