The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures recommends study abroad for language majors and minors to gain firsthand knowledge of culture and increase fluency, and works closely with the Office of International Programs to provide students with all the support they need to succeed in an international learning environment. Majors and minors are required to discuss options with their advisors to develop an academic plan. For program descriptions and application materials, please contact the Office of International Programs directly.
Our department sponsors a summer program in Málaga and Madrid (Spain) which is designed to provide Spanish language instruction at all levels, Spanish cultural immersion, and courses in literature and history. More details on courses and cultural activities can be found on the program's website.
Students can choose between the 4-week Madrid or 6-week Málaga & Madrid summer program. It is possible to earn 6-9 credits that may count toward Spanish major or minor credit or general credits toward graduation. The credits earned in this program are counted as Binghamton University credits.
For more information or academic advising, contact Prof. Antonio Sobejano (email@example.com). To know more about the program fees and application materials, contact the Office of International Programs.
Binghamton University offers scholarships and grants to students attending specific study programs each summer and semester term.
