About SEFA

 

 

What is SEFA?

SEFA is the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) — a charitable solicitation of New York state employees conducted under the authority of State Finance Law § 201-1. State employees may give to any of the charitable organizations that participate in SEFA and may at any time revoke or modify a contribution made through payroll deduction by providing a written request to the employee's payroll office.

November 2012

Dear University Community,

We're midway through the annual State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) and I want to remind you that every donation, no matter what size, will have a positive impact on our community and help those who are less fortunate.

Though our region was spared from the recent storm, it caused extensive damage in many areas of New York and nearby states. I encourage you to refer to the list of agencies included with your pledge information and consider a contribution, perhaps to an organization that can provide direct services to those who lost property and homes to the hurricane.

I also remind you that each person who contributes $78 or more to the campaign by Dec. 1 — just $3 a paycheck — will be eligible for a drawing of gift certificates valued at $50, donated by the University.

SEFA contributions may be made by check or through payroll deduction. For more information, or if you need another set of SEFA forms, please contact Martha Gahring at gahring@binghamton.edu or see the information below.

With your help, I am confident that we will surpass our 2012 goal of $60,000 by Dec. 1. I appreciate your help and support in making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Please give generously to this worthy cause.

Complete all three sections of the form. There is no need to fill in your Social Security Number. Send the completed top and middle sections with your donation or payroll deduction in the envelope provided. Retain the bottom portion for your records.
