CURRICULUM VITAE (pdf, 192kb)

I employ poststructuralist and feminist analyses to examine processes of social reorganization and restructuring in the U.S. and Bangladesh. At present my focus in the U.S. concerns the informalization of economic networks and non-monetary exchanges as they are manifest inalternative monetary systems. In Bangladesh I concentrate on the rise of fundamentalist movements and non-governmental organizations, emergent challenges to civil society and governance practices, as well as changing gender relations in the context of EPZ production and micro-industrial expansion. I am currently examining citizenship and identity formation as these are embodied in the period of the Bengal partition and its aftermath.
