Incoming students frequently have received credit for Advance Placement courses taken while in high school. These courses transfer to Binghamton University upon submission of official scores by the high school or Educational Testing Services to the Binghamton University Admissions Office, provided a score of 3 or higher was received. Typical coursework which is accepted includes Calculus, English, language courses, sciences, history, and economics. Computer science coursework transfers as a free elective only. AP credit earned may not be refused and the equivalent course at BU may not be repeated for credit.
Many high schools now offer students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. The courses, offered in conjunction with a college, usually follow the same syllabus used at the college but are taught by high school instructors. Upon successful completion, the student receives credit from the sponsoring institution. These courses are accepted as transfer credit provided the course content meets normal transfer criteria. They may not be repeated at Binghamton for credit, even if you would prefer to take the course here.
The School of Management at Binghamton University follows guidelines on transfer credit established by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). If the School offers a course at the upper division level (300 level or higher) that the student has taken at a lower division (100-200 level) at another institution, AACSB regulations require validation of the transfer course. At the School of Management, the validation procedure is written examination. In general, the School only considers the following courses for transfer credit without a passage of a validation exam:

Students who are interested in transferring academic credit should consult with academic advisor concerning additional details about courses that are eligible for transfer and about the validation procedure. Admitted transfer students are provided with an initial evaluation of coursework upon admission and final evaluation at orientation.
While at Binghamton, it is common for SOM students to take courses at other colleges to transfer to their program here, especially during summer and winter breaks. To do this, students must get prior approval from the SOM Advisor via the Petition to take Courses at Another Institution available online and in the SOM Advising Office.
Student often ask which courses may be transferred. In general, you may transfer non-SOM courses and any lower level SOM courses from any college including community colleges. Advanced SOM courses, i.e. those numbered above 300, must be taken at other AACSB accredited business schools. See a listing of these schools.
For non-SOM coursework, Harpur College provides tables of liberal arts courses from most SUNY and CUNY schools where you can determine how a course will be used upon transfer to BU.
For SOM coursework at lower level, the transfer information page will show typical business courses at SUNY community colleges.
A good source for online courses is the SUNY Learning Network. The site shows the online courses offered each semester by the various SUNY schools. You can search by term, school or courses. If you find a course you wish to take, get approval from the Advisor.
Grades received in courses at other institutions do not transfer to Binghamton and therefore do not enter into GPA calculation. While the grades do not transfer, only courses for which a grade of 'C' or better was received will be accepted in transfer.
