Binghamton's SSD office directly provides or facilitates the provision of services that allow individuals with disabilities to have equal access to the the educational, recreational, and developmental programming of the university. In addition to this, SSD can make disability parking available on a temporary basis to students, faculty, and staff with proper medical documentation. Information about acceptable forms of disability documentation, the services that can be provided to individuals with documentation that supports such accommodations, and how to access disability parking when it becomes necessary can be located through the links in the left navigation pane.
Students who anticipate a possible need for services or accommodations should register with Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) by:
Submitting detailed disability documentation from a professional who is licensed or certified to diagnose their disability(ies). NOTE: If you have a learning disability, ADHD, a psychological disabilitiy, Asperger's Syndrome, or a physical disability, please see the following links to SSD's documentation requirements for students seeking services and/or accommodations: LD/ADHD Documentation Requirements, Asperger's Syndrome Documentation Requirements, Psychological Disability Documentation Requirements, Physical Disability Documentation Requirements, and Traumatic Brain Injury Documentation Requirements.
During the intake appointment, you and the SSD staff member will review the disability documentation you've submitted ahead of time and determine the reasonable accommodations and support services appropriate to your situation.
See SSD pages on: Academic Accommodations, Academic Support Services, Campus Accessibility, Adaptive Technology and LD/ADHD/Asperger's Syndrome Educational Support for further information on services and educational opportunities
