Human Factors and Ergonomics Research Laboratory (HFERL)

Laboratory Director: Mohammad Khasawneh, assistant professor
Laboratory Manager: Abhinesh Bhuvanesh

Human factors is a multidisciplinary field directed toward the design and evaluation of human-machine systems. The HFERL supports research relating to a diverse array of human factors issues.

A newly established laboratory, the HFERL contains various equipment for conducting experiments to increase usability by improving the ergonomic design of hardware, software and workplaces to enhance people's comfort, performance and health.

Equipment includes sound meters, light meters, strength measurement devices, heart rate meters, etc. which can be accessed by students who take the Human Factors Course (SSIE 533) for their projects and also as a part of their research.
