GREEN IS OUR COMMITMENT
At Binghamton University, green isn’t just our school color, it’s a commitment to our planet and to future generations.
Across campus you will find a wide range of environmentally related policies, practices and academic offerings. They demonstrate our commitment to creating a sustainable community by engaging the campus and its partners and neighbors in programs that reduce our impact on the environment.
We encourage you to join these efforts and help Binghamton University go green!
Milestones
- In 2007, the University was one of the first institutions to endorse the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, a national initiative promoting climate neutrality.
- In 2009, Binghamton published its Climate Action Plan, a road map for achieving zero-carbon emissions on campus by 2050. (download the 2.2mb action plan .pdf)
- Also in 2009, we joined the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
- In 2010, for the third consecutive year, the Princeton Review gave the University its highest green rating possible and placed us on its Green Rating Honor Roll. Binghamton is one of only 18 colleges nationwide, the only SUNY institution and the only university in New York to achieve this honor.
