Two teaching laboratories of approximately 1000 sq. ft. are available
in the Biotechnology Building for instruction in the Bioengineering
program: one as a wet laboratory for courses such as BE-351 (Data
Acquisition and Analysis) and BE-331 (Biologically-Inspired Design),
and one as a dry laboratory for courses such as BE-470 (Autonomous
Agents) and BE-461 (Exploring Social Dynamics). These laboratories are
equipped with advanced data acquisition and analysis tools, including:
The university has "Information Commons" in the Library where a large
number of PCs are available for students. Similar, but smaller,
computing facilities are available in other buildings throughout
campus. In the Biotechnology Building, approximately 10 PCs are
available for general student computing. Students have continual
access to the computing tools used in the Bioengineering program
(Mathematica, SPLUS, and C++). Mathematica is the primary software
package utilized in Bioengineering and each student receives their own
copy of the software for their personal computer at no additional cost.
