Research Funding Record

The SSIE Department has received $2,053,375 in externally sponsored research funding and since 1999 has had a vibrant research program. Sponsors include the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency and numerous industries. At any one time, our faculty members are working with at least 15 industries on sponsored research programs. In addition to externally funded research, our department has a strong presence in the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program, averaging 12-16 SPIR projects per semester. These projects, while tactical in nature, also involve extensive interaction with industry.
