Welcome to The Writing Initiative!

The Writing Initiative brings together First Year Writing, the Writing Center, and English as a Second Language in one unit. We offer writing courses as well as support for student writing. Our endeavors are informed by current research in rhetoric, writing, and language acquisition studies.

Visit us in Library North 2412. To find us, take the stairway behind the Coffee Kiosk to the second floor, turn left, and walk toward the Harpur College Deans’ office. We're on the left side of the hallway. Whether you are a first-year writer, graduate student, native speaker, or international student, you’ll find the writing help you need, the information about writing courses you want, and a cheery welcome besides.
