SUNY Board of Trustees

The State University of New York's64 geographically dispersedcampuses bring educational opportunity within commuting distance of virtually all New Yorkers and comprise the nation' slargest comprehensive system ofpublic higher education. The 64 SUNY campuses are divided into four categories based on educational mission, the kinds of academic opportunities available, and degrees offered. They are Research and University Centers, Comprehensive Colleges, Technology Colleges, and Community Colleges.

The Board of Trustes is the governing body of the State University of New York. It consists of 17 members, 15 of whom are appointed bythe governor, by and with consent of the New York State Senate. In addition, the president of theStudent Assembly serves as student trustee and the president of the University Faculty Senate serves as an ex-officio trustee.
